Car Rider Drop-off and Pick-up

          Included you will find the procedures for dropping off and picking up car riders as well as a map of the school campus.  Please read this letter carefully, review the procedures and map, and pass on these instructions to anyone else who may be picking up your child this year.

         At the beginning of each school year, there are always concerns about the lines being formed, people passing in line, etc. Hopefully, this will clear up any confusion!

         Every car picking up a student must have a South Todd car rider tag.  If you do not have tags, call the office at 270-265-5785 to request as many as you need.  Please do not just lay the tag on your dashboard.  Hold it up in the window, or tape it to your passenger side windshield so it is visible to the staff on duty.  This will help tremendously in the afternoon with calling students out to the line.  As the year goes on, we will get better at recognizing cars and knowing first names of our car rider students.  The process will get faster and smoother as we go along.

Please refer to the above map anytime a letter, example (A), is used in the following instructions:

 

Morning Drop-Off for K-5:  7:30 - 8:00 a.m.

Turn into the Trenton Road entrance to South Todd (A). Turn left to drive around to the front of the school to the drop off/pick up area (B).

“Line 1” should be used first. Cars may line up all the way back to the entrance of the K/1 hallway.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK THE TRENTON ROAD ENTRANCE/EXIT (A).  Our morning buses need to be able to pull out of that road each morning once they are dismissed from the rear.  There will be staff members on duty every morning to greet students and assist with letting them into the building beginning at 7:30 until 8:00, so drivers should not need to get out of their cars.  It will help with backup issues if you do not arrive earlier than 7:30. Cars pull away and leave the South Todd campus through the Guthrie Road exit (C).

 

If you ever need to go inside with your child in the mornings, you should drive in through the Guthrie Road entrance, park in the front parking lot, and enter through the main front doors (ENTRANCE).

 

PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE AROUND THE BACK OF THE BUILDING AND NEVER PASS A BUS WITH ITS STOP SIGN OUT.

 

Students arriving after 8:00 are tardy. You must park and bring your child to the front office to sign him/her in.

 

Afternoon Pick-Up (K-5):  3:00-3:15

 

Turn into the Trenton Road entrance to South Todd (A).  Turn left to drive around toward the front of the school. Enter the gravel loop (D) at the green star and stop at the red star before approaching the asphalt.  Please fill both lanes as both lanes will merge, alternating, as you near the asphalt by the tree (Lane 1, then Lane 2).  When school staff arrive, you will be directed to proceed to the pick-up area in front of the building. It is extremely important to move slowly and carefully with the flow of traffic. This is for the safety of our children, who are the top priority of ALL of us. Cars pull away and leave through the Guthrie Road exit (C).   Preschool car riders (E) will follow a different procedure.  That will be sent home by those teachers separately.
